Bailey Short was born and raised in South Louisiana. He has been an avid angler his entire life and spent his entire upbringing in the coastal marshes of Louisiana. The Louisiana marsh is a vast fishery comprising various types of water that behave differently throughout the year. His dedication and appreciation for the fishery led him to a deeper understanding of the yearly cycles of marsh and ocean conditions. This understanding of the ecosystem is what has moved him to one of the best guides in the south.
By the time Bailey was 21, he was teaching Fly Fishing classes through Orvis. This is something he transfers into guiding and tries to educate anyone who steps on his skiff, whether it be about the fundamentals of fly fishing, or the advanced tactics to make every redfish you get a shot at engulf a fly.
When I met Bailey, I instantly felt an appreciation and energy for this fishery. It was easy to ask him to be on board. It is my passion to be out in the Louisiana marsh and catch the fish that haunt our waters. I hope to share this amazing experience with you and show you some new things along the way. There is always something to uncover out here, and it’s usually pretty awesome!
We at Waters First are excited to have him, and the team just keeps getting better!
